QUESTIONS

It’s nights like these where I’d need rain for a little atmosphere.

I guess I’m at that point of my life where all I have is QUESTIONS without any answers. A little drama happened today, and I spent the entire way home deep in thought. I even turned off the music, which is weird, because I can’t survive most car rides completely silent. Thank God I didn’t bump into anything.

I can say I love what I’m doing. Somewhat. I can say I’m happy where I am. Somewhat. Is it too wrong to look for a little more in life? To ask for a little more direction? Because I can keep on chugging along down the wrong lane, and by the time I realize I’m probably going in the wrong direction, it’ll be too late to change without affecting some large part of my life. Ugh, I think I’m too problematic for my own good. But there it is. Questions. Questions I want answered. Questions I wish I could answer, so they wouldn’t bother me.

Isn’t that what college is supposed to do, though? Show you where to go? I have an idea for which direction I want to go, but I’m not sure if that’s direction for me. I guess you never really know for sure.

MUSIC VIDEO ~~TUESDAY~~ Sunday—okay, who am I kidding. I accidentally missed the June 21, 2011 episode of Music Video Tuesday. We’ll be back on June 28. But before that, here’s a post featuring the other song that by all means should be broken now because of overplaying.

When I started liking music around the age of 13 (a little late, I know), Simple Plan was one of the first bands I ended up really following. I even watched their concert double-header with Avril Lavigne. And while they aren’t as popular now, I do hope they regain some of that lost fanbase with this radio-friendly uber-catchy tune. “Jet Lag” features Natasha Bedingfield and is off their newest album “Get Your Heart On!” Now if you excuse me, I must be heading to my local record store…

Last weekend, my committee in my org UP JMA had what we call a “Fight Night,” or simply an outing with everyone. This time we had in Tagaytay at one of our members’ vacation house and, to make a long story short, it was several degrees of awesome. This was taken right before we left.

When I was still an applicant back in the first sem of the last academic year, I remember not giving what committee I wanted to be in (should I have made it) a thought yet, and I was honestly put on the spot when I was asked by a co-app about a month before the process ended. But I remember giving him an answer, then realizing myself that it was in that committee where I truly felt I wanted to be. I told him, “Internals,” and after two sems, a fun but challenging app process and a team that I’ve grown to love over and over again (two times over, as an officer and now its head), I have no regrets.

It’s not just in the work we do, taking care of the members and the applicants and everything in between. It’s not just in how we do it either, with our smiles and sabaw-ness and our desire to work for the betterment of every single JMAer and would-be JMAer. I am proud to be a member of this committee because of the people I get to be with, in my team, in my committee, and in my org.

I LOVE YOU UP JMA INTERNALS THE BEST!

MUSIC VIDEO TUESDAY vol. 5 - “ROLLING IN THE DEEP” Adele (21, 2011)

Aesthetically, I believe this is the best video released in the last 12 months. If there is any justice in the world, it will win many, many awards in music video awards shows. Or at least be nominated, because such a powerful song can only be accompanied by an equally visually-powerful video. Each scene is meticulously laid out in front of us, and the construction is just superb, from the lighting to the angles. It’s the type of video that is open to quite a lot of interpretations, and it soars that way.

I fell in love with Adele’s music when her debut “Chasing Pavements” was getting just a tiny bit of airplay back in 2008. Now, “Rolling in the Deep” is running on five weeks at the top of US Pop Charts, and the album is breaking records on both sides of the pond, including her homeland the United Kingdom. I’m insanely happy for her, because with someone with such talent, success like this is success well-deserved. :)

MUSIC VIDEO TUESDAY vol. 4 - June 7, 2011 - “ALL YOU WANTED” Michelle Branch (The Spirit Room, 2001)

Michelle Branch was one of the first artists I ever became a fan of. I am especially fond of “Breathe,” which is one of my favorite songs of all time, and one I will never get tired of listening. I chose to feature “All You Wanted” instead because it’s that Michelle Branch song I’d always known but never knew fully what the title was… until now. She’s coming out with a new album later this year and is about to release her new single “Loud Music.” Her music is what I’m into the most, some sort of acoustic pop/rock. It’s something she does really well. And honestly, I really cannot wait until she releases her latest album. :)

What I like about this video is how it reminds me so much of the early 2000’s, not only with its style and visuals and the song’s sound, but the entire package rolled into one.

Me, in high school, sometime in 2009. Junior Year. I was examining a Teddy Award, the awards for orgs back then. I was Deputy Secretary of the Council of Student Organizations under the Sanggu-HS Student Council for SY 2008-2009. Besides the obvious weight difference (I’ve gained, if you’re wondering), it’s refreshing looking back at times like this. I never imagined how everything would be so different, two years later.
